GOP "Pledge to America" on immigration: OK, but much missing - 09/22/10

The GOP has released a draft version of their new "Pledge to America"; the official release will be tomorrow at a Virginia hardware store (for that extra-special down-home touch). They focus on five main areas: * "A Plan to Create Jobs, End Economic Uncertainty, and Make America More Competitive" * "A Plan to Stop Out-of-Control Spending and Reduce the Size of Government" * "A Plan to Repeal and Replace the Government Takeover of Health Care" * "A Plan to Reform Congress and Restore Trust" * "A Plan to Keep Our Nation Secure at Home & Abroad" Following page upon page devoted to the first...

Interior Dep't environmental regulations hampering Border Patrol (Rob Bishop, HR 5016) - 09/08/10

From this: ...migrants and drug smugglers (marijuana, mainly) are attracted to parts of Arizona for a specific reason. On these federal lands, environmental regulations prevent the Border Patrol from doing its job. That's what the mainstream media won't report... [On the video below], (Rep. Rob Bishop) makes this simple point. The U.S. side of the 1,950-mile border with Mexico is about 60 percent private land and 40 percent federal. "Almost all" of the migrants and drug smugglers come across federal lands, protected by stringent "wilderness" designations or endangered species rules. The...

Bush, Obama admins suppressed studies showing impact of illegal immigration on public lands - 12/10/09

It concluded the threat was great indeed, both from the surge of aliens and drug smugglers who are "decimating public resources," and from the invitation the open border offered terrorists...

Raul Grijalva considered for Interior Secretary in Obama administration (Juliet Eilperin/WaPo) - 11/23/08

Juliet Eilperin of the Washington Post informs us (link) the Democratic U.S. Representative Raul Grijalva is in the running to be Secretary of the Department of the Interior. See the link for much more on him, including the fact that he's a strong supporter of illegal immigration and a proud former member of the racial separatist group MEChA. Needless to say, Eilperin doesn't tell her readers that: Grijalva's experience and background meshes nicely with some of the Obama team's top requirements. The son of a migrant worker who grew up in Tucson, Grijalva boasts a strong environmental record...
